HSL

Live Drum ‘n Bass, with multi-instrumentalist Sven Surauf (2002-2014)

Jakob and Sven met at a student party and got to know each other by performing together at local jam sessions. In 2001 a first joint venture (a soundtrack for a local art documentary) sparked the idea for further collaborations, but it was a spontaneously organized showcase in 2002 at an art exhibition in a train station which sealed their fate and gave the project its name (HSL - aka "die Hemmschuhleger").

Since then, HSL continuously worked on their musical skills as well as their live performance, resulting in a decade long ride between parties and concerts at clubs and festivals all over Europe and eight full scale studio productions.

In 2012, Sven got married, entering a new era in his life, Jakob started work on [TÆKKRA]. Recognizing the ever-increasing differences in their way of life, Jakob and Sven decided to lay HSL to rest, playing two final shows in 2014 to celebrate 12 years of beats and sounds, fun and friendship, and to say goodbye to their fans.
